KWU women's track continues to improve

WICHITA – Kansas Wesleyan women's track continued to improve on marks earlier in the season at the Friends Spring Invitational this weekend at Adair-Austin Stadium.

Several Coyotes set new personal bests in events and had some strong finishes against top competition.

In the 5000m, Madisyn Ehrlich (FR/Salina, Kan.) placed fifth with a time of 19:06.99, Alayna Behrman (SO/Craig, Colo.) was 13th with a time of 20:21.70, Charlee Lind (FR/Wamego, Kan.) was 15th with a time of 20:26.88, Joni Schroeder (FR/Salina, Kan.) was 17th with a time of 20:44.99, and Regan Rhodes (SR/Mullinville, Kan.) was 24th with a time of 21:41.35.

Josie Koppes (SO/Manhattan, Kan.) placed sixth in the 1500m with a time of 5:02.82, knocking 50 seconds off her previous personal best time in the event.

Nicole Holaday (SR/Gove, Kan.) finished sixth in the shot put with a mark of 12.00m, Elizabeth Stout (FR/Holden, Mo.) was ninth with a mark of 11.81m, Jaci Carter (FR/Beloit, Kan.) was 26th with a mark of 10.43m, and Saffron Jacobs (JR/Johannesburg, South Africa) was 28th with a mark of 9.96m.

In the discus, Saffron Jacobs placed seventh with a mark of 35.90m, Jaci Carter was 25th with a mark of 30.05m, and Elizabeth Stout was 21st with a mark of 28.88m.

The 4x400m relay team of Grace Pearson (FR/Cypress, Texas), Grayce Tankersley (FR/Hillsboro, Kan.), Tamayia Washington (SO/Manhattan, Kan.) and Josie Koppes placed eighth with a time of 4:23.40.

In the 800m, Josie Koppes placed 11th with a time of 2:27.38, and Savannah Pilsner (SO/Columbus, Texas) placed 44th with a time of 2:57.99. Koppes set a new personal best time in the event and Pilsner set a new season best time.

In the hammer throw, Nicole Holaday was 11th with a mark of 39.67m, Elizabeth Stout was 24th with a mark of 33.04m, Jaci Carter was 25th with a mark of 31.72m, and Brooklyn Sloane (FR/Hill City, Kan.) was 30th with a mark of 29.33m.

In the 200m, Grace Pearson placed 33rd with a time of 26.40 seconds, Grayce Tankersley placed 67th with a time of 28.21, and Tamayia Washington was 76th with a time of 29.13. Both Pearson and Tankersley set new personal bests in the race.

The Coyotes head back to Wichita next weekend, to Wichita State, for the KT Woodman Classic at Cessna Stadium on Friday and Saturday.
