UPDATE: Police ID woman found at Lakewood Park

UPDATE 9:50 a.m. Wednesday: The body of a woman found near the southern entrance to Lakewood Park has been identified.

In a statement issued this morning, the department announced that the woman was Kristie Fisher, 43, of Salina. Her next of kin have been notified.

"The police department continues to gather information in regards to the circumstances leading to Fisher’s death. The police department would like to thank the public for information that has been provided so far, and encourage anyone that has any information regarding this investigation to please call Crimestoppers at 825-TIPS(8477) or the Salina Police Department Detective Division at 826-7210," the department noted in the statement.

Police are in the preliminary stages of an investigation into the death of a woman whose body was found in a local park.

At 6:10 a.m. Tuesday, officers were sent to Lakewood Park, 250 N. Lakewood Park Drive, for the report of a female who was face down near the south entrance, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester reported this morning.

Officers found a yet-to-be-identified deceased woman who appeared to be approximately 25-35 years of age, 5' to 5'6" tall, and 200-250 pounds, Forrester noted. Her hair appeared to be dyed a reddish color.

The body was clothed in a pink colored top, blue jean capris, and black tennis shoes, he added.
