Phyllis Marie Turner, 91, passed away Wednesday, January 29th, in Abilene surrounded by her family after fighting a long battle against Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Disease. Phyllis was born March 30, 1933, in Niles, Kansas, to Mary (Nunn) and Carl (Tootie) Toothman. Phyllis met Lloyd (Turner) while attending Solomon High. After Lloyd’s service in the Navy, he returned home, and the couple were joined in marriage on November 5, 1950. Phyllis worked at Bolen-Wood Insurance Agency prior to working alongside Lloyd on their many business adventures. They were blessed with their daughter, Pamela in 1965 and son, Jeffrey in 1968. Phyllis took great pride in owning the Hoisington Café and serving the community. She was famous for her homemade pies that would sell out before the restaurant closed each day. Phyllis studied Fine Arts at Barton Community College. Many of her paintings and ceramics are still adorned in her families’ homes. Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and hosting family and friends around the pool. Phyllis was not a stranger to anyone and made friends wherever she went. Phyllis and Lloyd were happily married for 58 years.Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Pamela Norris (Kevin), of Salina, Kansas; son, Jeff Turner (LaShon), of New Cambria, Kansas; son, Ben O'Shea (Desiree) of Enid, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Barbara Toothman; grandchildren, Kassandra Bethe, Brittany May, Anna Lumbreras (Jeremy), Logan Turner (Katelan), Landen Turner (Zoë), Jordan Chapman (Jayson), Thomas Seal, Mia O’Shea; and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Turner; parents, Mary and Carl Toothman; sister, Pauline Crawford; brothers, Edgar Toothman, Larry Toothman; granddaughter, Hannah Seal; nieces, Diana VanDiver, and Kathy Graybeal. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, February 4th at Carlson - Geisendorf Funeral Home, with Pastor Tim Maguffee officiating. Burial will follow at Greenville Cemetery in Niles.
