The Walk to End Alzheimer's by the Alzheimer's Association , will hold its annual walk in Salina to raise funds for care, support and research for people facing the horrific disease.
On Sunday, October 12 at JRI Stadium (at the campus of Kansas Wesleyan) participants will meet for the walk. The venue will open at 2:00 pm and a ceremony will occur at 2:45 pm, followed by the walk.
The ceremony will consist of honoring and remembering those who have died from the disease.

There is a registration fee for the walk and donations are highly encouraged. Every registered participant who achieves the fundraising minimum of $100, will receive an official Walk to End Alzheimer's T-shirt.
Chair for the Walk to End Alzheimer's, Amanda Randolph said this is the biggest fundraiser and support group for those that have Alzheimer's or other forms of cognitive impairment.
She added that over 7 million Americans are diagnosed with the disease, 1 in 3 older adults pass away with Alzheimer's or Dementia and nearly 12 million US citizens provide unpaid care for people with Alzheimer's or other forms of Dementia.
"There are some people with the disease living very secluded, because they do not want to talk about," Randolph said. "It is so important that we talk about it and say to others who have it, that this is not your death sentence. We have to help these people, so they are not alone."
