Yvonne J. Pickrell Hawkins, 98, Minneapolis, met her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, March 10, 2021. She was born September 21, 1922 in Glasco to Earl and Connie (Antene) Chapman.
Grandma Vonne, as she was known to by so many, was a 1940 graduate of Minneapolis High School and then she attended Brown Mackie College. Yvonne and Carl Pickrell were united in marriage on May 11, 1941 and he preceded her in death on May 26, 1972. On August 17, 1973, she married Bert Hawkins and he died September 15, 1985. She served as the Ottawa County Treasurer and then as Clerk for many years. Yvonne was an avid supporter of all activities at the Minneapolis Junior Senior High School. She rarely missed athletic events, whether at home or away, and she loved to attend the plays, musicals, and music concerts.
Yvonne was a longtime member of the Community Bible Church in Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; and her son, David on December 20, 1991.
Survivors are her son, Earl (Judi) Pickrell; daughter-in-law, Trudy Pickrell Trinkle; brother, Duane (Shirley) Chapman; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, March 15 at the Community Bible Church. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Sunday at Wilson Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Community Bible Church or Minneapolis Junior Senior High School and may be left in care of the funeral home.
