David Lowell Backus, Sr., 78, of Colby, Kansas, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021.
David was born in Dallas, Texas on July 17, 1943, a son of Thelma Irene (Holder) and Thomas Edward Backus.
He was a foreman at Midwest Energy.
On June 20, 1970, David married Phyllis Cotten in Hill City, Kansas.
Survivors include his wife Phyllis Backus; two sons, David Backus, Jr. (Laura) of Ellis, Kansas, Patrick Backus of Winfield, Kansas; daughter Ashley Backus of Colby, Kansas; and six grandchildren, Riley Backus, Thomas Backus, Opal-Anne Backus, Allison Backus, Jamie Williams, Keef Heatley.
David is also survived by two sisters, Barbara McGuire of Paris, Texas; Donna Smith (Danny) of Clarksville, Texas; two brothers, Michael Backus (Debra) of Dallas, Texas, Kenny Backus (Melanie) of Clarksville, Texas; and sister-in-law Gloria Backus of Dallas, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Ronald Backus.
Cremation has been chosen and services will be announced at a later date.
