Saline County has announced that the senior center will reopen on June 22, with some stipulations.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the high-risk population served at the senior center, the Senior Services Department is implementing necessary changes to keep patrons safe.
The building attendance capacity has been reduced to 30 percent. All persons entering the building will check-in and out with a staff member or volunteer through the west doors only. The staff or volunteer will greet you and record your time in and out of the building. Staff will clean all rooms before and after activities.
If you are sick, you are asked to not come to the senior center.
Persons in the building will be asked to practice six-foot social distancing and wear a mask.
Guidelines for activities
The individual group/activity leader will contact you to set up a schedule for participation. Leaders have been asked to rotate attendance to accommodate the 6-foot social distancing.
The third floor ballroom is undergoing some renovations and will not be open to the public. Exercise classes will be held on the second floor in the Board Room.
Dining room attendance
The dining room will be served by a first-come-first-served basis. As one person leaves another will be allowed to enter. Families will be allowed to eat together; otherwise there will be spaces marked for eating.
The serving line will require a six-foot separation and those purchasing food are asked to wear a mask until they sit down to eat. When persons are finished eating, food trays will be collected by staff.
"Staff is excited to welcome everyone back and want to ensure we are protecting our seniors, volunteers and staff members. We appreciate your patience with these necessary changes and look forward to showing off our renovations," Rosie Walter, senior services director noted in a news release about the opening.
