The National Weather Service (NWS) in Wichita has issued a high wind warning in effect from 4 p.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. Wednesday for the following counties in our area.
Ellsworth County
Lincoln County
West to northwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to around 55 mph are expected.
Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during very high winds, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive.

Several hours of sustained north winds of 30 to 40 mph with damaging gusts as high as 55 to 65 mph are possible. Isolated 70 mph gusts are possible during the worst of the winds late this afternoon and early evening.
Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles on west-east oriented roads.
People should avoid being outside around trees and branches and avoid windows when inside. Use caution if you must drive.
