The Kansas Department of Transportation began today a chip seal project on Kansas Highway 4 (K-4) in Saline and Dickinson counties.
Work was to begin at the south city limits of Gypsum heading east to the K-4/Kansas Highway 43 junction.
Drivers should be prepared for a delay of up to 15 minutes and plan extra time in their travel schedules. Traffic will be reduced to one 11-foot lane following a pilot car through the work zone.
Vance Brothers Inc. of Kansas City is the prime contractor for this project at a cost of $565,631. The contractor has scheduled work to be completed in mid-June, weather permitting.
KDOT urges all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approaching and driving through a work zone.
