UPDATE noon Saturday: Apparently the event has been moved to Caldwell Plaza.

A peaceful protest is scheduled for Saturday in Salina.

The "Fight the Powers That Be" gathering is scheduled for noon Saturday at the Salina Police Department, 255 North 10th Street. Organizer Tony Evans said that all are welcome to attend what is being planned as a peaceful protest.

"Though the arrests were finally carried out, the amount of time it took for charges to be laid on the officers for the murder of George Floyd. It should not have to take a week of peaceful protest ending in violence and loss of more lives to have the system do its job."
