MANHATTAN — Lukas Sebesta, from the Ellsworth FFA chapter, completed his term as State FFA Treasurer after helping lead the virtual 92nd Kansas FFA Convention Wednesday through Friday.

Sebesta represented more than 9,600 Kansas FFA members during his 2019–20 term.

After being elected State FFA Treasurer in May 2019, Sebesta traveled across the state sharing his passion for leadership, service, and agriculture. He was one of six officers who presented workshops and speeches challenging high school students to serve their community in the spirit of this year’s convention theme, “Holds True.”

When asked about his time as a state officer, Sebesta said, “I would say it has been one incredible and amazing journey. I was able to live out a dream that I had since I was a freshman in high school. The best part was learning from the members and seeing them succeed. The best leaders know the way and show the way, but then step back and let the other person shine. This is one of the most amazing things of all, seeing members that I made personal connections with grow and become amazing leaders.”

Sebesta marked the completion of his year of service by presenting his retiring address titled “Don’t Forget” at the fourth session of the convention, Friday. To view the full video of his address, visit kansasffaconvention.org.

In addition to Sebesta, the 2019–20 FFA state officer team included: President Logan Elliot, Riverton; Vice President Abby Goins, Labette County; Secretary Elizabeth Wright, Blue Valley; Reporter J.W. Wells, Sedan; and Sentinel Mason Prestor, Wilson.

Lukas is the son of Mark Sebesta and Susan Kurz-Sebesta. His chapter advisor is Karl Dawn Stover.
