Micheal Jess Baird, 71, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 4:55 a.m., Tuesday, May 26th, 2020 unexpectedly at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, Kansas.
Mike was born in Tecumseh, Nebraska on September 16, 1948, son of Marvin Jesse and Mary Lou (Hahn) Baird.
Mike attended McPherson grade school, McPherson Junior High and graduated from McPherson Senior High School, McPherson, Kansas in 1966. Mike then attended Bethany College, Lindsborg, Kansas.
Through the years Mike worked for Pyle Construction, M&P Construction, Sterling Drug, Sanofi Winthrop, Abbott, Hospira and retired from Pfizer Mfg, McPherson, Kansas in 2019.
Mike was a member of USSSA.
Mike enjoyed playing, coaching, directing softball and was inducted into the USSSA Hall of Fame in 2016, was a huge K-State fan, and loved spending time with his friends and family.
Micheal J. Baird was united in marriage to Rebecca J. Durbon on April 9, 1971 in McPherson, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson. This union was blessed with the birth of two daughters, Shannan and Corie.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Rebecca Baird, of McPherson, Kansas; his children, Shannan Parsons and her husband Todd, of McPherson, Kansas and Corie Godwin, of McPherson, Kansas; his siblings, Suzanne Becker and her husband Mitchell, of Moundridge, Kansas, Janelle Hunt and her husband Les, of McPherson, Kansas, Marcie Berens and her husband Frank, of Buhler, Kansas and Laurie Wiziarde and her husband Ken, of McPherson, Kansas; his Mother Mary Lou Baird, of McPherson, Kansas.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cody Parsons(Shayla, Cloe Parsons, Austin Godwin, Caleb Godwin(Nicole,and Baylee Baird and his great-grandson, Levi Michael Godwin.
Mike was preceded in death by his father.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 29, 2020 at 500 N. Ash St., McPherson, Kansas from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
A private graveside service will be at a later date.
