Taylor Anthony Lawson

Taylor Anthony Lawson, 25, of Wichita, KS, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on May 22nd, 2020.

He was born January 23rd, 1995 in Birkenfeld, Germany to Tony Lawson and Nicolé (Brumfield) Dorman. He moved to DeFuniak Springs, FL in the spring of 1995 with his parents and then to Clay Center, KS in June 1997 with his mom and baby sister Mia. He grew up loving to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed playing football and baseball with his friends. He graduated from Clay Center Community High school with the class of 2013.

Taylor enlisted in the US Army in January 2014 graduating with the 198th Infantry Brigade at Fort Benning, GA. He proudly served with the 101st Airborne Unit & the 173rd Airborne Combat Brigade in the following countries: Afghanistan, Albania, Africa, the Balkans, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Iraq, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the Ukraine.

During his service, he was awarded the following: Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (x4, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Medal, Expert Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Expert Marksmanship Badge with carbine bar, Expert Marksmanship Badge with pistol bar and was on the Army rifle team.

He is preceded in death by his Meme’, Mary Janet (Chaput) Brumfield and grandparents Marcus Earl Lawson, Vickie (Young) Burnett, Martha Graves, and Gary L Dorman.

He is survived by his parents, Nicole’ & Matt Dorman, Abilene, KS, Brad Underwood, Clay Center, KS, and Tony & Heather Lawson, Auburn, AL. Sisters; Mia Lawson (Daniel Graves, Clay Center, KS, Jillian Underwood, Abilene, KS, Brittney (Nicholas) Mckenzie, Garden City, KS, and Abigail Lawson, Auburn, AL. His grandparents; Rick Brumfield, Lyle & Linda Underwood, Douglas Burnett, Ramona & Mike Derousseau and his girlfriend, Anna Lay, Wichita, KS.

Respect calls will be held on Friday, May 29, 2020 from 3-8PM at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, Clay Center.

A private funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Clay Center.

Interment will be in the Saint Concordia Cemetery, Concordia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Taylor A. Lawson memorial fund c/o the funeral home.
