On Tuesday the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is scheduled to begin a mill and overlay project on Kansas Highway 18 (K-18) in Dickinson and Geary counties.

Work on K-18 will begin at the Kansas Highway 15 junction and continue east approximately 14 miles to the U.S. Highway 77 junction.

Drivers should expect a delay of up to 15 minutes and plan extra time in their travel schedules. Construction will occur during daylight hours and traffic will be reduced to one 11-foot lane following a pilot car through the work zone.

Shilling Construction Co. Inc. of Manhattan is the prime contractor and has scheduled this $2 million project to be completed in August, weather permitting.

KDOT urges all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approach and driving through a highway work zone.  To stay aware of all road construction projects across Kansas go to www.kandrive.org or call 5-1-1.
