Police are investigating the alleged theft of a dog in north Salina.

According to Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester, a two-year-old Siberian Husky got out of its owner's yard in the 500 block of Reynolds on Wednesday. A neighbor saw the dog in her front yard in the 700 block of Lincoln and attempted to secure the dog for the owner, but was unsuccessful, Forrester reported.

At approximately 2:30 p.m. that same day, the same neighbor’s front door camera captured two women walking the dog with a blue rope tied around the dog’s neck, he explained. The owner was informed of this and assumed the females would contact the animal shelter for the dog. She contacted the animal shelter and they did not have the dog.

The dog is valued at $1,200, Forrester noted.

Surveillance video is being reviewed, he added.
