McPherson County reports 2 new cases of COVID-19

MCPHERSON -- The McPherson County Health Department this evening reported two additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county.

The first newly identified case is a female in her 20s who is recovering at home and has unknown exposure. The second newly identified case is a female in her 20s who is recovering at home and has unknown exposure.

According to the health department, symptoms for COVID-19 appear 2-14 days after exposure and include fever, cough, shortness of breath, malaise, sore throat, chills, and diarrhea. If you develop any of these symptoms, contact your health care provider. You must stay home for at least 10 days after symptoms started or for 72 hours after fever is gone (without the use of fever-reducing medication) and with significant improvement in symptoms, whichever is longer, the health department noted.

On a more positive note, 17 of the total confirmed cases have now met recovery guidelines set forth by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, however, two of the total confirmed cases are currently hospitalized.
