UPDATE: Morning thunderstorm brings hail, heavy rain

Early morning thunderstorms swept through the area, bringing with them wind, hail, and heavy rain.

A severe thunderstorm watch had been issued for a large part of Kansas, but was allowed to expire before noon for all of the counties in our area.

Rainfall totals varied in the Salina area, with 0.26 of an inch being recorded at the Salina Regional Airport, one-half inch in north central Salina, and 0.35 of an inch in southeast Salina. Hail ranging from quarter-sized to baseball sized was reported in Salina, eastern Saline County, and Abilene.
