Saline County: No new COVID-19 cases today

Here's the Thursday COVID-19 update from Saline County:

The Saline County Health Department does not have any additional cases of COVID-19 to report today.

Governor Kelly will be delivering an address at 6:30 pm tonight, April 30th, to the people of Kansas on her administration’s official plan to re-open the State. The address will be broadcast on live television and available to radio stations in Kansas as well as on the Governor’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/GovLauraKelly/

A mobile testing site will be in Salina on Friday, May 1st and Saturday May 2nd. This is a collaborative effort between eTrueNorth, Walmart, and State & Local officials. To be tested individuals MUST:

• Have a scheduled appointment trough eTrueNorth by visiting www.DoINeedaCOVID19test.com or by calling 1-800-635-8611

• They will only test those that meet criteria.

• Testing will take place in the lower parking lot at the Kansas Highway Patrol located at 2025 E. Iron from 10am to 3pm. Again, you must have an appointment.

At 11 am, KDHE reported the following in their daily release:

• A total of 4,238 positive cases and 129 deaths. That is an increase of 500 positive cases from yesterday’s release.

• 27,388 negative tests have been received through the KDHE and private labs.

• The age range is 0 years to 99 years (median 46 years of age).

Announcements:

• KDHE has added two states to the mandatory quarantine list, Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and removed the states of California, Florida and Washington. This is effective for persons returning today, April 30th, and moving forward.

• The Department for Children and Families is providing an additional opportunity for low-income households to apply for the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP). This new application  period begins May 1st and runs through May 29th.

Saline County residents are encouraged to help the community and our health care system flatten the curve and slow the spread of coronavirus. You can do this by:

• Following the Statewide Stay-at-Home Order which remains in effect until May 3rd.

• Covering all coughs and sneezes.

• Washing your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water.

• Wearing cloth face coverings or homemade masks when in public.
