CLAY CENTER -- The Clay County Health Department today announced the first confirmed death in the county from COVID-19.
The person who died was a 70-year-old female who was known to have contracted the virus out of state, the health department reported. The woman's death from COVID-19 was confirmed on Saturday by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, according to a news release from the Clay County Health Department.
"Contact investigations were conducted by Clay County Health Department staff and one Clay County contact was identified. That person will remain in quarantine at home until April 28, 2020," the health department noted in the news release.
