TOPEKA – It’s not unusual for employees at a McPherson realty office to gift a few lottery tickets for each other’s birthdays, and this time Marsha Silver hit gold with a $20,000 win on the $2 Double Bonus Crossword game!
“Jeannie, my coworker, and I both had birthdays last week and got two Crossword tickets in our cards,” Silver said. “She had scratched hers and asked me if I won anything and that’s when I showed her the ticket and told her I had to go to Topeka!”
Silver hadn’t realized her full luck, though, until she showed the ticket to her husband.
“He told me I missed an ‘L,’ which brought me up to 10 words for the $20,000! I couldn’t believe it; I was just happy with what I thought was $2,000!” she said.
The winner hasn’t told the purchaser about her luck yet, but she plans to throw a party for her coworkers soon. Besides celebrating, Silver says she’ll spend the winnings on family.
The winning ticket was sold at Dillons 36 at 1320 N. Main Street in McPherson. There are still 22 $20,000 top prizes left in the $2 Double Bonus Crossword instant scratch game, as well as thousands in other prizes!
