ABILENE -- The retirement reception for longtime a Abilene physician was reflective of the times we live in now.

Dr. Doug Sheern retired as a physician at Memorial Hospital in Abilene at the end of March. Those attending his reception on March 31 wished their friend and colleague well while practicing the social distancing that has become the norm in the time of COVID-19.

Sheern provided care for more than 40 years in Abilene, according to information provided by Memorial Health System (MHS). Sheern will be missed dearly, by not only all of his patients, but by the MHS staff as well, MHS noted.
