With COVID-19 dominating news and social media, two Salinans decided that something positive was needed.
Erin McCorkle and Tanner Colvin joined forces to create a video about the positives in Salina.
"This virus has disrupted everyone’s lives, and for some has even taken a loved one. When Erin approached me to help put the video together it was nice to see someone wanted to point out the good in our community," Colvin said.
McCorkle said she got the idea for the video after seeing all of the positive efforts people in Salina are making in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"I am from Salina and so proud to call it home and be raising my kids here. I have seen the amazing thing Salina is doing," McCorkle told Salina Post. "I thought it would be neat to highlight the positive things Salina is doing."
McCorkle said she gathered the photos and asked Colvin to put the video together.
"The health care workers, first responders, educators, business owners, everyone on the front lines have stepped up. I know these are uncertain times, but finding the positive has helped us all," she said.
Colvin agreed.
"Our social media feeds are just filled with so much hate and negativity any more. If the video broke up that trend then it was worth the effort to put it together!" he said.
McCorkle posted the video on her Facebook and encouraged others to share it.
"I also really encourage people to continue to spread the positivity and use the #6740Wonderful to share how awesome Salina is!" she added.
