USD 305 board OKs COVID-19 related items

The USD 305 Board of Education approved a number of items as a result of COVID-19 and the closing of school buildings for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.

The board approved the district’s Continuous Learning Plan which ensures continued learning for students in spite of the closure of the district's school buildings.  For this year, credits required to graduate are suspended and the requirement for 2020 seniors is changed from 24 to 21 credits.

The board of education approved

·a resolution to pay all current hourly employees for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.

·forgiveness for outstanding fees and outstanding meal account balances in an effort to help families.

·compensation for on-call daily substitutes for the remainder of the school year.

·payment provisions to allow Durham School Services (busing) to maintain appropriate staff and vehicles through the end of the school year.

“Employees, families, substitute teachers and Durham School Services play a vital role in educating our students,” said Linn Exline, superintendent. “It is our hope that these measures will help in this uncertain time.”
