Contracts, bids, policies, sales tax among city agenda items

Contracts, bids, policies, sidewalk cafe license agreements, sales tax, and recognition of a retiring fire captain are among the items on the Salina City Commission agenda for Monday.

Commissioners are scheduled to begin with a 2 p.m. study session in room 107B of the City-County Building, 300 West Ash Street. The agenda for the study session is as follows.

2 p.m. -- Sales tax fund review

2:30 p.m. -- Spectra XP contract renewal

3:45 p.m. -- Public comment

The commission regular meeting is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. in room 107 of the City-County Building. A time for public comment is scheduled near the beginning of the meeting.

Items on the commission agenda include the following.

Mayor Mike Hoppock is to recognize outgoing Fire Captain Lee Soldan.

Consider awarding the contract or the 2020 Asphalt Mill and Inlay, Project No. 20016, to APAC-Kansas, Inc., Shears Division of Salina, in the amount of $810,636.80 with a $89,363.20 (11.0%) construction contingency and a total project authorization of $900,000, and authorize the city manager to sign a memorandum of understanding to partner with Saline County to mill and inlay a portion of Centennial Road at an estimated cost of $66,775 with a $3,225 (4.8%) construction contingency and a total project authorization of $70,000.

Consider bids for City of Salina to purchase self-contained breathing apparatus and ancillary equipment.

Consider awarding a contract for minor concrete rehabilitation -- manhole adjustments.

Consider Resolution No. 20-7810 adopting the Smoky Hill Museum’s Ethics and Collections policies.

Consider Resolution No. 20-7811 authorizing the mayor to execute a sidewalk café license agreement with PB&J Restaurants, Inc., authorizing the construction and placement of an outdoor sidewalk dining area in the front of YaYa’s Euro Bistro at 251 South Santa Fe Avenue.

Consider Resolution No. 20-7812 authorizing the mayor to execute a sidewalk café license agreement with Lighthouse Properties III, Inc. authorizing the construction and placement of an outdoor sidewalk dining area in the front of Starbucks Coffee at 257 South Santa Fe Avenue.
