UPDATE: Fire weather watches, wind advisories issued

UPDATED Sunday morning:

Fire weather watches and an additional wind advisory have been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS).

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur.

NWS in Wichita has issued a fire weather watch in effect from noon through this evening for the following counties in our area.

Ellsworth County

Marion County

McPherson County

Saline County

Winds: South 25 to 30 mph with gusts up to approximately 40 mph.

Relative Humidity: As low as 38 percent.

Impacts: Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly and become very difficult to control. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

NWS is Topeka has issued a fire weather watch in effect from 10 a.m. through this evening for the following counties in our area.

Clay County

Cloud County

Dickinson County

Ottawa County

Republic County

WIND: South winds of 20 to 30 MPH with gusts up to 45 MPH.

HUMIDITY: Minimum relative humidity values of 30 to 35 percent in the afternoon.

HIGHEST THREAT: The very strong winds along with critical fuels could create very high fire danger even though relative humidity is expected to increase today.

IMPACTS: Any fires that develop could spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

NWS in Topeka also has issued a wind advisory in effect from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday for the following counties in our area.

Clay County

Dickinson County

Ottawa County

South winds 25 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are expected.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Driving high profile vehicles on east to west roads will be difficult.

The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a wind advisory effective from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday for the following counties in our area.

Lincoln County

Marion County

McPherson County

Saline County

Strong wind gusts could blow around unsecured objects. High profile vehicles will be susceptible to strong and sudden wind gusts, especially on east-west oriented roads and highways. A few power outages will also be possible.
