A car stolen from south Salina early Friday was recovered later in the day in Lawrence.
According to Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester, Tabatha Shank-Woker reported that sometime between midnight and 6:30 a.m. on Friday, someone stole her 2008 Ford Taurus X valued at $8,000 from the 2300 block of Chapel Ridge Place. She told police that the vehicle was locked and that she had the keys with her, Forrester said. A bag that contained her wallet, as well as some photography lighting valued at $300 was in the car Forrester said.
While an officer was taking her statement, she was notified that her debit card was being used in Lawrence, he said.
Later on Friday, Lawrence police located the car, on which someone had put a stolen dealer tag from Wichita, Forrester said. The car's real tag was inside the vehicle, he added. The car did not appear to be damaged, Forrester said.
