KIPP -- A malfunctioning vaporizer unit is being blamed for a propane tank fire in Kipp Tuesday afternoon.

Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said this morning that deputies and Rural Fire District No. 1 (RFD 1) personnel were dispatched to the Land Pride plant, 244 North Hugh Street in Kipp for the report of a propane tank on fire. When emergency personnel arrived, 15-foot flames could be seen coming from the 2,500-gallon tank, he said. 

RFD 1 extinguished the fire and minimal damage and no injuries were reported, Soldan said. The Land Pride plant, however, was closed for the rest of the day, he added.
