Joyce Eileen Petersondied peacefully in Salina, Kansas on February 13, 2020 at the age of 87.
Joyce is survived by her children John (Brenda) Peterson and Christine (Lee) Young of Salina, her grandchildren Travis, Erica, Jason, Michelle, Christopher, Erin and Rachel, and her 19 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister Marjorie, husband Neil, and son Micheal (Lisa).
Joyce was born on June 26, 1932 in Barnard, Kansas to Eugene and Eva Cozad. She married Loren Neil Peterson in 1949. They were married for 67 years, building a loving family environment for their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family and friends remember her as a selfless, compassionate and strong woman.
Joyce was a pivotal figure in the foundation and early years of the Salina Vortex Corporation. Neil and Joyce invested their life savings, time, and labor in the company during the late 1970’s and throughout the 1980’s to build the business. Their contribution and sacrifice is greatly appreciated by those touched by their efforts.
A graveside service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on February 18, at Roselawn Memorial Park in Salina. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Joyce’s life.
