UPDATED: NWS drops winter weather advisories for some counties

UPDATED 7 p.m. Tuesday: The winter weather advisory for Dickinson County has been canceled.

UPDATED 3:55 p.m. Tuesday: The National Weather Service (NWS) in Wichita has dropped the winter weather advisories for Ellsworth, Lincoln, McPherson, and Saline counties. Additionally, the winter weather advisories for Dickinson and Marion counties are in effect until midnight.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Wichita has issued a winter weather advisory in effect until 6 a.m. Wednesday for the following counties in our area.

Ellsworth County

Lincoln County

Marion County

McPherson County

Saline County

Mixed precipitation, including light freezing drizzle and light snow, possibly mixed with sleet at times is expected today. Snow and sleet accumulations of up to approximately one inch and ice accumulations of a few hundredths of an inch are possible, NWS noted.

Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute. Slow down and use caution while traveling.

Additionally, NWS in Topeka has issued a winter weather advisory in effect until 6 a.m. Wednesday for Dickinson County.

Mixed precipitation expected with total snow accumulations of half an inch to two inches and ice accumulations of up to approximately one-tenth of an inch, according to NWS. A mixture of snow and freezing drizzle begins by midday today and persists through the afternoon. The precipitation ends this evening, NWS noted.
