Mary Karlin Benson, 89, of Salina, died Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at Salina Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Benson was born on May 17, 1930 in Catharine, KS, the daughter of Raymond and Clara (Dreiling) Karlin. Mary was married to Maurice A. Benson on Jan. 31, 1951 in Salina.

Survivors include her daughter, Myra of Salina; sons, Larry, Rick, Mark of Salina, Tom of Frisco, TX and Andy of Chaska, MN; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Cecilia Long of Joplin, MO, and Rosemary Jochum of Salina.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Maurice; two brothers, Linus and Lawrence; and three sisters, Luella Brown, Clara Bellerive and Benida McCurdy.

Mary was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and worked for several years in the St. Mary’s grade school cafeteria.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 8 at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church. A luncheon for family and friends will take place immediately following mass. Mary’s ashes will be inurned in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Salina.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to St. Mary’s Grade School.
