Walther PPK among items stolen in north Salina burglary

Police are investigating a Tuesday burglary in north Salina that included the theft of a .22 caliber handgun.

Salina Police Captain Gary Hanus said this morning that sometime between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., someone forced entry through the back door of a residence in the 700 block of West Woodland Avenue, causing $400 in damage.

Items belonging to a 22-year-old female and a 48-year-old male that were taken include the following, Hanus said.

A laptop valued at $100

An iPhone 7 valued at $100

Prescription medication for an animal valued at $10

A black Walther PPK handgun valued at $300

A number of DVDs and videos valued at $50

Hanus said that police are conducting a neighborhood canvass to see whether anyone saw anything suspicious during the time that the burglary occurred. He said that one witness reported seeing a suspicious subject in the neighborhood at the time.
