Multiple senior services items on county agenda for Tuesday

Several items concerning the Department of Senior Services are among those on the Saline County Commission agenda for Tuesday morning.

The televised portion of the meeting is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. in room 107 of the City-County Building, 300 West Ash Street. A time for public comment is scheduled near the beginning of the meeting.

Commissioners will be asked to consider a bid award for remodeling the Department of Senior Services kitchen. Staff is recommending that the bid, in the amount of $62,249 be awarded to Ponton Construction, Inc. The work will include "removal of all existing kitchen equipment, cabinets, shelving units, sinks, flooring material and prep concrete floor for stain. Remove wall material, and paint as required. Remove acoustical ceiling tile and install owner provided acoustical tile - existing ceiling grid and light fixtures to remain," according to commission meeting packet information.

Additionally, commissioners will be asked to appoint members of the Department of Senior Services Advisory Council. The proposal includes reappointing Jeff Hart and David Freeland to terms running from February 2020 to February 2023 and appointing Randal Helus to a term running from January 2020 to February 2021.

Finally, Rosie Walter, senior services director, is scheduled to present a senior services update.

Other items on the county commission agenda for Tuesday include the following.

Request for action on an AED grant -- Bernie Botson, emergency management deputy director. Commissioners are being asked to accept a $10,000 grant from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation for the purchase of automated external defibrillators.

Hear the 2020 Saline County annual noxious weed management plan -- David Flaherty II, weed supervisor, livestock and expo

Consider Resolution 20-2285 Salina Community Economic Development Organization member -- Phillip Smith-Hanes, county administrator. According to county commission meeting information, it is being proposed that Lloyd Davidson be reappointed as the Saline County representative to the organization.

Immediately following the televised portion, the commissioners are scheduled to meet in a study session in room 107B of the City-County Building for 30 minutes to discuss East Schilling Road-South Ohio Street property.
