Salina Regional Health Center (SRHC) has earned the Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR®) Strong designation from the national Competency and Credentialing Institute for the third year in a row.

The CNOR® Strong designation is given to facilities that have at least 50 percent of its eligible operating room nursing staff CNOR® certified.

The program is aimed at helping nurses improve and validate their knowledge and skills in order to provide the highest quality care to their patients. The certification acknowledges an achievement of specialty knowledge beyond basic nursing preparation and RN licensure.

“I am proud to work with a team that is professionally committed to delivering excellent patient care,” said Kelley Drake, SRHC surgery nursing director. “Holding this certification proves their dedication and passion to perioperative nursing.”

Research shows that nurses who earn CNOR® credentials have greater confidence in their clinical practice. Thus, a team of certified nurses who have mastered the CNOR® certification standards advances a culture of professionalism that promotes improved patient outcomes.

The CNOR® Strong program was launched by the Competency and Credentialing Institute in 1979 to recognize facilities committed to making a difference for its patients. The CCI is one of the nation’s largest specialty nursing credentialing organizations and the leading certification body for perioperative nurses. The mission of CCI is to lead competency and credentialing that promotes safe, quality patient care and supports lifelong learning. Find out more about the CCI at www.cc-institute.org.
