
Leslie W. Root passed away peacefully on January 16, 2020 at his home in Morganville, KS. He was born October 6, 1938 in Dallas County, Iowa to Lester Ora and Hazel Lillian (Powell) Root. He married Donna Blanchard on December 28, 1973. He farmed in Iowa with his father and was employed in York, Nebraska at Sperry New Halland, and Agi Con/Equipment in Central City, Iowa. Les then moved to Kansas and was employed with AgCo Corporation until his retirement in 2004. Les also worked as a crop insurance adjuster for Great American Insurance after his retirement. He was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker and Kansas City Chiefs fan.
Les is survived by his sons Gary and wife Sue Root of Waverly, Nebraska; David and wife Dawn Root of Bertrand, Nebraska; daughters Janet Root of Gleandale, Arizona and Kris and husband Gene Green of York, Nebraska; stepdaughter Chris Allder of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandkids Adam (Tawnya) Root, Nathan (Debra) Root, Adam Gonzalez, Blake Mettenbrink, Jesse Roholt, Nikki Roholt, Ryan Will, Jennifer (Zach) Limbach, and Nick (Rebecca) Allder, great grandkids, Zenna, Hartley, Briggs, Jewel, Blair, Jade, Marley, Kayne, Lucy, Penny, Jackson, and Annabelle, and his sisters Lois Priest, Naomi (Wayne) Hill, and Carol (Alvin) Barnes.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister, Shirley and stepson Mike.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2020 from 4-7 PM at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, Clay Center, Kansas
Services will be held Friday, January 24, 2020 at 10:30 AM at the Clay Center Methodist Church, Clay Center.
Burial will take place at Bloom Cemetery, Clay County, Kansas
