UPDATE: NWS says ice, snow headed our way, but later than thought

UPDATED 5 p.m. Thursday: A wintry mix of sleet, snow and freezing rain will impact the region tonight through tomorrow morning, according to the National Weather Service in Wichita. Sleet, snow and ice accumulations are likely across much of the area. Hazardous travel conditions are expected tonight and during the morning commute on Friday.

UPDATE 10:30 a.m. Thursday: According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, the latest data suggests wintry precipitation will start later than previously thought tonight, arriving from southwest to northeast after 9 p.m. to midnight.

A wintry mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain will impact the region this evening through tomorrow morning.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Wichita, light snow, sleet, and ice accumulations are likely. Hazardous travel is likely.

Total precipitation (liquid equivalent) of less than an inch is expected in the area.

NWS notes that there still remains some uncertainty regarding precipitation type and associated snow, sleet, and ice amounts.
