James Robert Miller

James Robert Miller, died Thursday afternoon at the Morris County Hospital surrounded by his family.  He was the sixth child of seven children born to Henry William and Hazel Marian (Burdette) Miller.

James attended Delavan Grade School and graduated from Wilsey High School in 1953. On September 23, 1956, he married Carol Jean Bennett.  Together they raised three sons, Kevin, Kent, Kirby, and one daughter, Kristie. 

James was a life time farmer.  When he was not farming he enjoyed being a carpenter and working with oil field production.  He was an avid follower of the KU Jayhawks and a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals.  He enjoyed going to the casino, scratch offs and traveling on trips with his family. 

Proceeded in death by his parents; four brothers, Henry, Jr., Jerry, C. E. “Eddie” Miller, and Don; two sisters, Kathleen and Marilyn; and grandson, Aaron. 

Survivors are his wife, Carol Miller of Delavan; sons, Kevin Miller (wife-Jackie) of Delavan, Kent Miller (wife-Betsy) of Rossville, Kansas, Kirby Miller of Woodbine; daughter, Kristie Miller (Vic) of Hutchinson; seven grandchildren, Allisha, Dusty, Lana, Megan, Coty, Ashlynn, and Brady; sixteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 14, 2020, 10:00am, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church-Herington, with Rev. Bill Neuman, officiating.  Graveside service will follow at the Delavan Cemetery.  Family will greet friends, Monday evening at the Yazel-Megli-Zeiner Funeral Home-Herington Chapel from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
