Salina Police are investigating the theft of equipment from several trucks at a local business.

Sometime between 9 p.m. on Dec. 30 and 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, someone entered the lot of Kansas Truck Center, 2552 North Ninth Street, via a field to the east and stole the following, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning.

Part of an aftertreatment system from a Freightliner truck

The whole aftertreatment system from a Western Star 4700 truck

Two clamps and a sensor from a Western Star 4900 truck

Total loss was estimated at approximately $23,000, Forrester said.

Aftertreatment systems for diesel trucks have a similar function as catalytic converters for cars in that they help clean exhaust emissions.
