Gladys Ruth Shivers 93,died Thursday January 2, 2020 at Medicalodge in Clay Center, KS. She was born September 8, 1926 near Longford, Kansas to Fred and Nettie (Iseli) Bletscher. She grew up in the Industry area and graduated from Dickinson County High School in Chapman, Kansas in 1944.
On April 30, 1950 Gladys married Forrest Shivers. Until 1968 Gladys was a stay at home mom and farm wife. Gladys worked for USD 379 as a Bus Driver and Food Service worker for a number of years. She also worked at Wakefield Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of the Clay Center Christian Church in Clay Center, Kansas.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, sister Dorothy Tyrell, husband Forrest and 2 great grand children.
She was survived by her 5 children as follows. Lanny (Joyce, Kenneth (Beverly, Robert all of Clay Center and daughters Dolores Burchett Clay Center, KS and Janet (Dowell) Burchett of Longford, KS. There are 10 Grand children and 18 great grand children.Funeral Service will be Saturday January 4, 2020 at 10:30 am at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center, Kansas.
Pastor Kevin Larson will be officiating.
Burial will be at the Greenridge Cemetery in Dickinson County.
Respect calls will be held Friday January 3, 2020 also at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home from 3 to 8 PM.Memorials may be made to Clay Center Christian Church, Clay Center, Kansas or Meadowlark Hospice in care of the funeral home.
