Local authorities are investigating more thefts of catalytic converters/exhaust systems from Ford vehicles.
Sometime between midnight and 10 a.m. Tuesday, someone stole the exhaust system from a 2014 Ford F250 pickup that was parked at The Ridge of Salina, 2363 Chapel Ridge Place, where the 27-year-old male victim lives, Salina Police Captain Gary Hanus said Thursday. The exhaust system was valued at $1,200, he said. Additionally, $5,000 worth of damage was done to the pickup when the exhaust system was cut out, Hanus said.
Also on Tuesday, between 6:30-8 a.m., a catalytic converter was stolen from a 2018 Ford F150 pickup belonging to Great Plains Manufacturing, Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said Thursday. A Great Plains employee pulled the pickup out of the shop at 389 West First in Assaria and parked it at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Soldan said. The catalytic converter was valued at $600, he added.
