Donna Jeanne (Jones) Porter passed away December 27, 2019.

She was born in north-central Mitchell County Kansas on February 20, 1930 to Viola (Lyster) Jones and Walter Raleigh Jones.  She attended Pleasant Plains Elementary School in south central Jewell County and graduated from Glen Elder High School.

Donna and Gene Neifert Porter were married on August 14, 1949 at her family home located in south central Jewell County on land that has continuously belonged to her family from 1904 to this day.  Donna was actively involved in farming and raising livestock with her husband Gene.  Three sons were born to this union, Paul, Jerry and Tom.  They were blessed with ten grandsons and currently ten great grandchildren.

When Donna “retired” from the farm, she attended NCK Nursing School.  After earning her degree, she found her niche in the nursery at the Mitchell County Hospital.

Gene and Donna were fortunate enough to celebrate their 56th wedding anniversary before Gene’s passing.  Donna shared many good times with family and friends throughout the years.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, brother Walter Jones and son Jerry Porter.  She is survived by her son Paul, her son Tom and his wife Beverly, and her daughter-in-law Jana Schwandt and her husband Gary.  She is survived as well by her grandsons Jacob, Michael, Austin, Lucas, Nick, Levi, Matt, Russ, Andrew, Dennis and her ten great-grandchildren, along with two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Porter and Ardis Jones. All of their children were special to Donna as well.

Donna was loved by her family and friends. She will be remembered fondly and sorely missed.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM Tuesday, December 31 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1-7 PM with family present from 5-6 PM Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Donor's Choice.
