
Dorothy Adams Gay passed away December 6, 2019 at 10:50 a.m. She was born to Hubert and Evelyn Bussart Adams on September 2, 1935. She graduated from Minneapolis High School and then from Brown Mackie in Salina, KS. She met and married James Robert Browder and moved to West Memphis, AR. While living in West Memphis, Dorothy had three Children; Melonie, Melissa and Jimmy Browder. She founded, organized and was Chairman of the Board of the Girl's Club of West Memphis, West Memphis, AR in the early 1970's. Each year since, the Girls Club has serviced at least 500 girls each year. Dorothy and James divorced in 1980.
While working as a secretary at the then St. Joseph Hospital in Memphis, TN she met David Lee Gay and married in 1981. They lived very happily until his death September 22, 1999.
Dorothy retired from FedEx as a Manager in the Hub. She enjoyed being around her family, traveling, painting, music, crocheting, quilting, sewing, ceramics, cooking and decorating. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Olive Branch, MS. She had a deep faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Melonie; her son, Jim; her husband, David; her brother- in- law, Larry Newman and great grandson, Zach Watson. She is survived by her daughter Melissa Browder; her 5 grandchildren, Ronny Bennett (Linda) of Tennessee, Adam Bennett (Barbara) of Mississippi, Christopher Green of Mississippi, Elizabeth Justice of Mississippi and Stephanie Green of Texas; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; her sisters Darlene Thomas (Duane) of Kansas, June Sechrist (Gary) of Kansas, Donna Newman of Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis, KS on Thursday, December 12 from 5:00 pm-7:00pm. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, December 13 at the First Baptist Church with burial in Highland Cemetery in Minneapolis, KS.
Dorothy will be sorely missed by her family, friends, and all that knew her.
