Two Salina women fell victim to scammers on Thursday.

A 64-year-old Salina woman said she believed she was in communication with a Publishers Clearing House (PCH) employee. The alleged PCH employee pulled up to her house and she gave a $50 gift card to the man who got out of the vehicle, Salina Police Captain Gary Hanus said Monday. The money allegedly was a sort of processing fee. The man was going to return for more money, but instead called while a police officer was visiting with the woman about the incident, Hanus said. The man hung up when the officer attempted to talk with him, he added.

In the second case, a 67-year-old woman reported that she purchased four $500 gift cards and provided the card information over the telephone to a person she believed to be from Microsoft after a virus warning popped up on her computer screen, Hanus said.
