A 42-year-old Salina man was arrested on suspicion of DUI after a two-vehicle accident on South Broadway Boulevard Thursday night.

Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said Friday that a southbound 2004 Buick Rendezvous driven by Klynn Green, 62, of Solomon, was stopped at the light at Crawford Street at approximately 9:30 p.m. Thursday. When the light turned green, the Buick started through the intersection but was sideswiped by a southbound 2009 GMC SUV driven by Jose Maldonado, 42, of Salina, Forrester said. The SUV kept going south until it reached Duvall Avenue, where it stopped because of disabling damage to the vehicle, Forrester said.

Green was transported to Salina Regional Health Center with minor injuries, he said.

Because of damage along the passenger side of the SUV and damage along the driver's side of the Buick, both vehicles were towed, Forrester added.

Maldonado was arrested on suspicion of the following, Forrester said.

Driving under the influence of alcohol

Transporting an open container

Driving on roadways laned for traffic

Failure to stop at an accident
