The National Weather Service (NWS) in Wichita has issued a winter weather advisory in effect from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday for the following counties in our area.
Ellsworth County
Lincoln County
Marion County
McPherson County
Saline County
A light wintry mix is expected. Total snow accumulations of one to perhaps two inches especially across portions of central Kansas, NWS noted. A light wintry mix will develop during the early morning hours before transitioning to light rain and ending by late afternoon or early evening.
Plan on a few slick spots on bridges and overpasses. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thanksgiving day commute. Slow down and use caution while traveling on Thanksgiving day.
NWS in Topeka has issued a winter weather advisory in effect from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday for the following counties in our area.

Cloud County
Dickinson County
Ottawa County
Republic County
A light wintry mix is expected. Total snow accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations of around one tenth of an inch possible with the highest ice accumulations expected over north central Kansas, according to NWS.
Plan on slippery road conditions especially during the onset of precipitation on any untreated surface. Road temperatures are expected to remain at or below freezing until later in the afternoon. As a result use caution on all roadways but especially on bridges and overpasses.
NWS in Hastings, Neb., has issued a winter weather advisory in effect from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday for the following counties in our area.

Mixed precipitation expected. Initially, an area of light snow will overspread much of the area, mainly during the morning, hours, with accumulation around one inch or slightly higher possible. Then mainly during the afternoon, snow may mix with or change to light freezing drizzle, with less than one-tenth of an inch of icing expected.
Although wintry precipitation should be fairly light, NWS says to plan on potentially slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact Thanksgiving Day travel.
Winds will be lighter with this weather system compared to the last one, averaging 10 to 20 mph from the southeast.
