MANKATO -- The National Weather Service in Hastings, Neb., has place Jewell County under a winter weather advisory.
Because of the impending winter weather, Rock Hills USD 107 will not open on Tuesday, according to information posted on its Facebook page.
The winter weather advisory will be in effect from 9 a.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday.
Wet snow is expected, along with perhaps a brief period of freezing rain or sleet during the day. Total snow accumulation of generally 1 inch is forecast. Winds are expected to be from the north-northeast during the day gusting to around 30 mph, then turning more northwesterly Tuesday night gusting to around 45 mph.
Plan on slippery road conditions. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility, especially in rural areas. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute.
