Grassland fire danger is very high for counties in our area.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Wichita, the following counties in our area are within the very high grassland fire danger for Monday afternoon.
Ellsworth County
Marion County
McPherson County
Saline County
Very high grassland fire danger is occurring this afternoon across parts of central and south central Kansas. Gusty north winds and dry air will allow any fires that develop to spread rapidly. Avoid outdoor burning. The conditions will improve by sunset.
Additionally, Lincoln County is in the high fire danger category for this afternoon, NWS noted.
Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday night, Saline and Lincoln counties will be in the high grassland fire danger category, according to NWS. Ellsworth, Marion, and McPherson counties will be in the very high grassland fire danger category, NWS noted.
