Two people were injured in a rollover accident in north Salina on Wednesday afternoon.
Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said Thursday that emergency personnel were dispatched at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday to the intersection of West Grand Avenue and North Broadway Boulevard for the report of an injury accident.
According to Forrester, a 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by Janet Gagnon, 46, of Salina, was turning south onto North Broadway Boulevard from West Grand Avenue when it struck the driver's side of a 2006 Toyota Corolla driven by Maria Sanchez-Ortega, 53, of Salina. Sanchez-Ortega was southbound on North Broadway Boulevard, he said.
Forrester said the collision caused the Corolla to roll onto its side.
After the collision, Gagnon left the scene, but later called the Salina Police Department to say that she was involved in the crash, he said.
Sanchez-Ortega complained of head pain and was transported by EMS to Salina Regional Health Center (SRHC, Forrester said.
Police made contact with Gagnon at 2400 South Ninth Street, and she also was transported to SRHC after complaining of arm pain, he said.
Gagnon was cited for a stop sign violation and duty to report an injury accident, Forrester said.
The Corolla received extensive damage and had to be towed from the scene, while the Grand Marquis received damage to the front passenger side, he said.
