A suspended license traffic stop turned into a drug bust Tuesday afternoon after a Salina Police K-9 indicated the presence of illegal drugs.
At approximately 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, a patrol officer at the intersection of North 11th Street and West Harsh Avenue recognized Marquis Richardson, 50, of Salina, as driving a Ford F150 pickup while having a suspended driver's license and made a traffic stop, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said Wednesday.
During the stop, Salina Police K-9 Bennie indicated the presence of narcotics and the pickup was searched, Forrester said. A black sock with multiple plastic bags in it was located in the bed of the pickup, he said. The sock included the following, Forrester said.
One bag with 35.3 grams of methamphetamine
One bag with 19.5 grams of marijuana
One bag with 16 various pills
Additionally an undisclosed amount of cash was located during the search, he said.
Richardson was arrested on suspicion of the following, Forrester said.

Unlawful acquiring of proceeds from a drug transaction
Possession of marijuana
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Driving while suspended
No proof of insurance
