A Salina man was killed Tuesday afternoon when the SUV he was driving struck nearly head on a tractor-trailer rig hauling grain on East Old 40 Highway.
Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said Wednesday that a westbound 2002 Ford Explorer driven by Rudolfo Sotello, 37, changed lanes to pass another vehicle and struck nearly head on a 2007 Freightliner driven by James Saint, 62, of Beloit, in the 1800 block of East Old 40 Highway. Sotello was killed, Soldan said. Saint was not injured, he said.
The Saline County Sheriff's Office shut down East Old 40 Highway from Ohio Street to Marymount Road until the accident was cleared, Soldan said.
