A section of South Ninth Street will be closed to through traffic for the next few days.

According to information from the City of Salina, South Ninth Street from Crawford to Walnut will be closed to through traffic through Thursday to allow APAC Shears of Salina to work on the street.

The work consists of milling the existing asphalt street surface 1.5 inches and replacing it with new asphalt to rehabilitate and preserve the pavement section. Permanent pavement markings will be placed shortly after the resurfacing.

Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes to their destinations, the city information noted.

The $1.5 million project is a major component of the City of Salina's $4.7 million 2019 maintenance capital improvement program.
